<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">yummy blueberries</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
There have been a few changes on the farm since I have last posted. We have narrowed our focus to the things that are most important to us, namely the goats and the blueberries.<br />
<br />
The Blueberries production continues to grow. Harvest of 2015 came 2 weeks early and we enjoyed a very hot and long summer. Thank you to all who came for the U-pick and all those who purchased the picked berries. Hope you enjoyed them as much as we did. :)<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">the 'cloud'</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
For the goats, we had a great harvest of cashmere in January and February. Fibre was processed at Still River Mill in Connecticut into yarn and is available for sale. Fibre from the previous year was also processed at ME2Farms into cloud, and is also available for sale.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">RWF Judah</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
March and April brought the kids. We are happy to announce that we have a new genetic line, from RWF Judah. We have kept his girls and some of his boys so that we can assess their quality. We hope that they will fulfill our expectations. The males who meet our expectations will be available for sale as herdsires in spring on a first come, first served basis.<br />
<br />
We will soon begin harvesting the cashmere again, and sending off our samples for histogram evaluations. Kids will again be arriving in March and April. We are expecting great things from these kids.<br />

<br />
In August I had the privilege of going to Twist Fibre Festival in Quebec with my friend and colleague, Heide Krause. The 2015 Canadian National Cashmere Fleece competition was held there and we were able to be a part of facilitating that. It was a great show and so many very nice fleeces. I don't know how the judge, Wendy Peih was able to make her selections.<br />

That was so much fun. This is the scarf I made with silk and merino wool.<br />

<h4>
Many thanks to Anja and Sabrina who came to our farm for 3 weeks, through helpx (a help exchange program). Many wheel barrow loads of weeds were cleaned up, feet trimmed (goats), veggies harvested, tomatoes pruned and more. It was a joy to have these girls. May the rest of their journey in Canada be blessed. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span class="s1" style="font-family: inherit;">Saturday, the beginning, Willie comes in to tell me, Malina is pushing. A few minutes later, we go back outside, and lo and behold, she is already done. One white and one black kid, both female.</span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: inherit;">Sunday, Willie feeds the goats in the morning, says all is calm, so we happily go to church, with Levi and Danika and grandkids coming for lunch, Sweet.</span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: inherit;">We come back home and Willie goes out to check. Few seconds later he comes back waving 4 fingers in the air. I get myself ready to go out. By the time I get out there, there are 5 kids and 2 moms, (Lini and Brinlee) and mass confusion. Which kid is mine? We get that all sorted out. Put them in their individual stalls. That should be it for the day. </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: inherit;">Yeah right, Shortly after everybody left, we go back out just to make sure everything is good, and guess what. Three more kids. By now it is about 8:00 pm, very cold out, and momma Maggy hasn't got them all cleaned up. The poor things are shivering like crazy. So we step in to help. Willie gets some warm water, heat lamp in stall and we bring the kids in. Maggy, however doesn't want to come in. Once we get everybody into the stall, Maggy makes it very clear that she does't believe those kids are hers and she does everything in her power to reject them. </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: inherit;">So what to do? We hold Maggy and force her to allow the kids to nurse. We work on that for awhile and finally go in the house for a break. 11:30 pm we go back out and do it again. </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: inherit;">As well as 3:15 am and 6:45 am. Not very fun. Meanwhile Willie has gone to work. After taking Jesse to work, I come home for some breakfast, and spend some time with God. </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: inherit;">I am praying for God's joy to be my strength, 'cause this is not easy to deal with. I am exhausted before I even start. I also pray for wisdom on how to get Maggy to accept her kids. I go back into the barn and do the morning feed routine with the extra attention for the new moms. I decide to take Maggy out of her stall and bring her kids out one at a time with a timed feed so they could all get some. While doing this, Willie phones. He suggests taking Maggy and the kids back outside where she last knew her kids. I agreed to give it a try. Just before I do so, Maggy pees. Wonderful. I take each kid and rub them in it and then take them outside. Then I bring Maggy out. I bring her right to the kids. </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: inherit;">She takes a sniff, walks away, looks around the area and comes back. The kids follow her, and try to nurse. This time she allows them. Amazing God. I can hardly believe my eyes. She is still out there with her kids and bonding nicely. Praise Jesus. Glory to his holy name. </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: inherit;">Before I had come out to the barn, I was ready to take Maggy and kids to the auction, or something, because I just couldn't see how I could keep these 3 kids healthy. They were so sad because they weren't getting any positive attention from their mother. </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: inherit;">When I was praying, I said to God. "You tell us to do everything for You. My work, isn't for me, it is for You and Your glory. If I give up on this mom, I can't give you any glory. Therefore, I place their lives in Your hands, I will do whatever I can do with Your strength. I will look for Your wisdom to know what to do. I will give You glory and honor. Thank you for what You are about to do."</span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: inherit;">So here it is. His story of life on the farm. Never dull :)</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Last month we had the privilege of sending some of our goats to work in Gibsons BC. They have the most amazing piece of property to live, work and play on. Ocean-front beaches, forest, crystal clear creek running through and owners who are crazy in love with them. Their 'job' is to clear about 10 acres of land, which has all kinds of vegetation. It is a huge smorgasbord of grasses, weeds, trees and shrubs including their favorite, blackberries. For some great pictures, see, <a href="http://www.gibsonsgoats.ca/">www.gibsonsgoats.ca</a> </span></div>

This provides a convenient service for people. However, it can only work as long as people act in an honorable way. Yesterday, someone, or more than one person, took $53 worth of food product. If this continues, the stand will have to move and only be available when someone is here to serve customers. At first I was very angry, wanting God to 'get' them. Then hurt and disappointed in whoever this was. But God whispered in my heart's ear, 'bless those who curse you, do good to those who do evil to you, forgive and love your enemies....' I admit, this wasn't something I wanted to do at first and am still struggling with, but as I surrender my emotions and will, the peace of God returns to my heart. And I trust Him to heal the pain as well.<br />If the person(s) who has done this reads this, I say this to you.<br />"You are forgiven and loved. What you have done is not right and it will steal the peace in your own heart, but there is a remedy for that. Perhaps you have never known peace in your heart, so you have no idea what I am talking about. You may think you have gotten away with this act, but you can't run and hide from yourself. The way to peace is to turn from evil and allow the Prince of Peace to wash you clean, and become a child of the Heavenly Father. I may never come in contact with you, but if we do, I will treat you with respect. I am willing to enter into a dialog with you and lead the way to the Prince of Peace if that is your desire."</span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12457885035946974912noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4553892699579863317.post-21074686096826778042012-07-30T23:29:00.000-07:002012-07-30T23:29:01.381-07:00<h2>
Heirloom Tomatoes & other Veggies</h2>

Heirloom tomatoes are ripening and hopefully will be available for sale by the end of the week or beginning of next week. Potatoes and Garlic are now ready. Also coming soon, cucumbers, zucchini, and basil. Hope to see you here soon :-)</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12457885035946974912noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4553892699579863317.post-49232815556577286872012-07-30T23:24:00.001-07:002012-07-30T23:24:12.340-07:00<h2>
Thank-you to all who visited us on the Slow Food tour.</h2>
<div>
We had a great time with all the visitors who came to our place from the slow food tour. Many cups of blueberries were enjoyed, as well as the tasting of the heirloom tomatoes. Tangerine was the favorite by many people. </div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12457885035946974912noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4553892699579863317.post-87466687592758137082012-07-30T23:17:00.000-07:002012-07-30T23:17:16.531-07:00<h2>
<b><u>A closed gate</u></b>. </h2>
We love serving our customers. Some of our produce is available on a self-help basis. This is found in the roadside stand.<br />
Other things require our presence, like berry u-pick and things that need to be weighed. I am almost always onsite, however there are times when I am not available and the gate is closed for this type of business.<br />
When the gate is closed, you have some options. You can honk your horn and if I am around, I will come and see if I can help you. Or you can call me @ 604-819-4339. I have my phone on me most of the time. However there are times when I am not available, and you will have to wait for another time to contact me.<br />
<b><u>Climbing the gate is not an option</u></b>. We cannot be held responsible for you, if you happen to fall or get bit by one of our dogs. Not only can entering a place in an inappropriate way be dangerous, it is also very rude. I would never enter you personal space in that way.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12457885035946974912noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4553892699579863317.post-33172630791669711662012-07-10T22:23:00.002-07:002012-07-10T22:23:49.719-07:00<h2>

Today was even busier, 11 kids, and definitely amazing. We topped it off with a new mom dropping <b>quads</b>!! Yikes. 2 were on the very low end of normal and 2 were absolutely tiny. 1.8 lb. and 2.25 lb. So lots of encouraging to nurse needed. Poor mom, she couldn't even stand up for a couple of hours. Fortunately we were able to put one of the kids on a mom who had lost her kid to help carry the load. We pray they all make it through the night.</span><br />

Histograms were done on all our 2 and 3 year old does and bucks. 36 in all. This means that we have an unbiased assessment of the quality fiber each animal is producing. This will help in our breeding program which means you will be able to have confidence in the animals you select for your herd.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"> Which brings us to kidding time. We are one week away from the first due dates. Looking forward to all those bundles of joy. There is nothing quite like having a bunch of little baby goats to fill your day with laughter and amazement. I find it interesting how we call our human children 'kids' and how much the similarities in their antics are to the goat kids. Whoever applied that expression to human children must have had goats as well. </span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12457885035946974912noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4553892699579863317.post-83723146093307047232012-01-25T12:38:00.000-08:002012-03-09T14:18:04.148-08:00fleece<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">Samples from our 2 and 3 year old goats have been taken. Above all creation, He chose humanity to make his home with and to call us His friend, lover, and temple. Who can understand this mystery?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12457885035946974912noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4553892699579863317.post-72664122957767620882011-12-09T11:14:00.000-08:002011-12-09T11:14:05.642-08:00heart"Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life." Proverbs 4:23<br />
Our heart beliefs are what give life, or take it away, from our daily lives. Proverbs also tells us that as a man thinks, so is he. So I question. Do my beliefs limit me, or do they empower me?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12457885035946974912noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4553892699579863317.post-85202323241675278022011-10-20T12:57:00.000-07:002011-10-20T12:57:04.856-07:00BREEDING SEASON<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #741b47;">As of Sept. 17, We have been in high breeding mode with our darling cashmere goats. Boy were our bucks raring to go. You could smell them a long way off. Within 10 days, most of the does were bred. February -March will be a very busy months. The younger doelings were put with their bucks mid Oct. Hopefully they will all be bred soon too. </span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #741b47;">Its time to start thinking about getting your starter cashmere herd or sweater herd (3 wethers) lined up.
